What shoes should i wear to the dance?

I have a school formal to go to and my dress it red and has one strap. I can't seem to find the right shoes for it tho. I can't wear sandals because it seems too casual for my dress. And I don't really wanna wear heels because I'm 5'4' and I'm scared ists gonna make me seem huge help?!
